Curriculum Vitae/Certificates:
Dr. Louis Lopez was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He attended Rice University and double majored in English and Biochemistry. Dr. Lopez was also engaged in medical research at Baylor College of Medicine during the summer break of his undergraduate years. He then went on to attend the University of Texas for medical school. While at the University of Texas, he received training in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology. Following training at the University of Texas, he spent time at multiple other institutions gaining additional expertise in Peripheral Angiography and Intervention studying with the most highly regarded experts in the field.
Dr. Lopez then moved to Fort Wayne and has been in practice for almost 25 years. He has privileges and performs procedures at all five hospitals in town. Throughout his career, he has continued to stay abreast of all the latest procedures.
Dr. Lopez has continued to gain knowledge and expertise in Peripheral and Angiography Intervention. In the State of Indiana, he is regarded as one of the leading experts in the field. He has been a part of almost every major research project in the field of peripheral vascular intervention for the last 10 or 15 years.
Dr. Lopez continues to teach at several of the major conferences each year. He has to limit the amount of time spent teaching at conferences in order to maintain his busy schedule here in Fort Wayne. He is extremely devoted to patient care and one of the most difficult things to do is to take time off of work.
Dr. Lopez’s philosophy in the practice of medicine has always been to provide the highest quality of care to every patient, every time. It is impossible for any physician to please every patient, every time but one would be hard-pressed to find a physician who tries harder. He tries his best to explain medical issues to the patients in simple and understandable language. A clear understanding of one’s medical condition makes that condition less scary. He loves his patients and the practice of medicine. That’s why he treats every single patient as his own family.
Dr. Lopez is married to his lovely wife Jessica, has six children, one grandchild, and one grand-doggy. Four of his children have graduated from college, one is about to start college, and the youngest is 12 years old. In his spare time, which is not much, he enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys exercising and doing yardwork. Work and family have been the two greatest joys of his life.
